17章レコーディングルール
PromQLへのアクセス方法はHTTP APIだけではない。レコーディングルール（recording rule）を使えば、Prometheusに定期的にPromQL式を評価させて、その結果をインジェストできる。これは、ダッシュボードの高速化、集計結果のほかの場所での利用、範囲ベクトル関数の作成（compose）に役立つ。ほかのモニタリングシステムでは、同等の機能を継続クエリ（standing query、continuous query）と呼んでいる場合がある。アラートルール（18章参照）も、レコーディングルールの一種である。この章では、レコーディングルールをいつ、どのように使うかを説明する。
17.1 レコーディングルールの使い方
レコーディングルールは、prometheus.ymlとは別のルールファイル（rule file）と呼ばれるファイルに格納される。prometheus.ymlと同様に、ルールファイルもYAML形式を使っている。ルールファイルの位置は、prometheus.ymlのトップレベルフィールドであるrule_filesを使って指定する。たとえば、例17-1は、ふたつのターゲットをスクレイプするほか、rules.ymlというルールファイルをロードするprometheus.ymlである。
