PromQL（Prometheus Query Language）は、メトリクスに対してあらゆるタイプの集計、分析、算術操作を実行できるようにしてくれる。システムパフォーマンスの理解を深めるためには、PromQLの活用が欠かせない。
第Ⅳ部では、2章で作ったPrometheusとNode exporterの構成を再利用し、式ブラウザを使ってクエリを実行する。
13章では、PromQLの基礎とHTTP APIを使った式の評価方法を説明する。
14章では、集計の仕組みを深く掘り下げる。
15章では、加算や比較などの演算子と異なるメトリクスの結合方法について説明する。
16章では、時刻の判定からハードディスクがいっぱいになる時刻の予測まで、PromQLが提供するさまざまな関数を説明する。
PromQLはルールを決めることができる。17章では、Prometheusのレコーディングルール機能を説明する。この機能を使ってメトリクスをあらかじめ計算すれば、PromQLによるクエリがより高速で高度なものになる。
