5Stop Wishing Things Were Easier; Start Making Yourself Better
You cannot be successful and delusional at the same time. Therefore, you must get right with the truth and connect to reality.
Here are a few brutal truths:
- Things will get worse before they get better.
- There will be winners and losers.
- Bad things will happen to good people.
- Businesses will fail.
- Some people are going to lose their jobs.
- Some people will take pay cuts.
- Some people will lose their homes.
- Some people will lose their life savings.
- Some people will have to start over again.
- Smart people will win and thrive.
What lies ahead of you is a hard, emotionally draining grind. That grind is the price you have to pay to rise above the fray, choose your path, and win while everyone else is losing. It will not be easy, but you'll need to grind to shine.
How do I know this? I've been through the cycles five times in my lifetime. I started a successful multimillion-dollar business in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression and doubled the size of that same business during the next crisis, which was even worse.
During the first crisis I worked so hard, and so many hours each day, that at times, my body hurt. I got so little sleep that there are two entire years that I can barely remember. During the last crisis, I was forced to pivot my entire business on a dime, make quick, gut-wrenching decisions, and work insane hours to ensure our survival.
