Creating an index – students

With your REST client (Postman), enter the following:

• URL: http://localhost:9200/students
• Method: PUT
• Type: JSON (application/json)
• Body:

{}

With Kibana, go to the Dev Tools option in Kibana and type the following script:

PUT students{}

You will see the following output:

We have created a student index without any explicit settings, so Elasticsearch has created the index with default settings—five shards and one replica.
