Some e-commerce portals contain mini portlets running simultaneously and passing data portlet to portlet. A portal is a collection of windowed mini web applications, called portlets, which support features like personalization, content aggregation, and integration into a foreign portal, authentication, and customization.
Portal specification is for complicated supply chains, e-commerce, or workflow-based applications that have complex features other than typical servlet-based transactions. If your project does not need the complexities of portal development then this area of implementation can be skipped.
