Reports and other documents longer than a single page are often difficult for readers to absorb or to understand in context. Not all of the material is of interest to everyone; and time limitations may prevent the reader from devoting the time necessary to the entire document. Headings break up the text and allow the reader to concentrate on selective parts.
When presenting complex material in a report, break it down into logical components, and give each section a meaningful heading. Use a Table of Contents for long documents, including page numbers.
