So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Cross – database joins
Tableau 10 introduces the ability to join (at a row level) across multiple different data connections. These joins are referred to as cross-database joins or cross-data connection joins. For example, you can join SQL Server tables with text files or Excel files or tables in one database with tables in another. This opens all kinds of possibilities for supplementing your data or analyzing data from disparate sources.
With Tableau 10, you can add additional data sources to a connection and join tables from the different sources. Consider the hospital data mentioned previously. It would not be uncommon for billing data to be present in a system different from the patient care data. Let's say you had a file for patient ...
