It’s no secret that you can save a document as a PDF in the standard Print dialog. It’s one of the easiest ways to create a PDF on which you can then work in PDFpen. Use this technique when you have a document created in another program that you want to have in PDF form, such as a report or manuscript.
If you’ve never done it before, here’s how to create a PDF from almost any application on your Mac:
Choose File > Print.
In the lower-left corner of the Print dialog, click PDF, and then choose Save as PDF from the pop-up menu (Figure 5-1).
