Not every PDF needs a table of contents, but if you have a PDF that is more than a few pages long, providing a table of contents is a courtesy to your readers. In PDFpen and PDFpenPro, as with Apple’s Preview and Adobe Reader, a PDF’s table of contents appears in the document window’s sidebar (see Navigate with the Sidebar).
In PDFpenPro, when you display the table of contents (choose View > Table of Contents or select it from the sidebar’s pop-up menu), a new pop-up menu appears at the bottom of the sidebar (Figure 5-7). You use the items on this menu to edit a document’s table of contents.
