It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

• small-signal or unity-gain bandwidth, or gain-bandwidth product: the
frequency at which the open-loop gain falls to unity (0dB). The “small-
signal” label means that the output voltage swing is small enough that slew-
rate limitations do not apply.
• slew rate: the maximum rate of change of output voltage for a large input
step change, quoted in volts per microsecond.
• settling time: elapsed time from the application of a step input change to the
point at which the output has entered and remained within a specified error
band about the final steady-state value.
These parameters are illustrated in Figure 5.8.
