So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

7.2.12 Ripple and noise
Ripple is the component of the ac supply frequency (or more often its second harmonic)
which is present on the output voltage; noise is all other ac contamination on the output.
In a linear power supply, ripple is the predominant factor and is given by the ac across
the reservoir capacitor reduced by the ripple rejection (typically 70−80dB) of the
regulator circuit. A figure of less than 1mV RMS should be easy to obtain. HF noise is
filtered by the reservoir and output capacitors ...
