Part 2 covers the more functional aspects of the economics and finance in professional team sports and allows us to explore in detail how teams operate financially, and how that can have an impact on sporting performance. We will examine factors such as revenue generation and cost structures and how we can measure team performance both holistically and effectively. We will consider the wider economic factors at league level that dictate financial performance of teams such as broadcasting rights arrangements, ownership structure of teams, governance of leagues, and different forms of financial regulation present in professional team sports.
