One of the first things you’ll realize as you start to immerse yourself in social media is there is no end to the number of blog posts, tweets, LinkedIn and Facebook groups, videos, podcasts, and conferences vying for your attention and claiming to be the one, definitive source for everything you need to know about enterprise social media.

CONFERENCES AND INFORMATION PROVIDERS

Author Dave Thomas has spoken at several events put on by MarketingProfs, an organization that provides online resources, newsletters, and white papers and puts on excellent conferences. It does a great job sharing practical knowledge of how businesses are actually using social media. The panel discussion on B2B social media best practices at the May 2010 B2B forum in Boston was literally standing-room only.

Ragan Communications is another fine organization putting on practical and focused communications conferences, many of them centered on social media. Ragan often partners with major corporations to put on conferences at the company’s facilities. Its events are well worth attending.
