I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The Visible Job Market
Less than 20 percent of all jobs come from the visible job market. Although the percentages within the visible job market may change from year to year, the overall percentage remains at 20 percent. Regardless of the type of technology used to post a job opening, the range of visible jobs remain consistent. The number of available positions job seekers can view remains the same year in and year out; only the posting channel changes. These channels include:
- Job boards (e.g., www.monster.com)
- Job aggregators (e.g., www.simplyhired.com or rival www.indeed.com)
- Social media (e.g., facebook.com, linked.com, twitter.com)
