Before Losing Your Job

Get yourself organized, especially if rumors of layoffs are in the air or actual layoffs are already occurring. Plan ahead!

Monitor Changes in Your Workplace and Work Organization

Be aware of changes in management's behavior that might indicate change is coming. For example:

  • Your boss won't look you in the eye.
  • Management behaves evasively and avoids dealing with you directly.
  • All HR and high-administrative personnel receive privacy screens for their computer monitors. They become defensive when approached, which is suspicious because they were always helpful and friendly.
