General Eric K. Shinseki served in the United States Army for thirtyeight years, most recently as Chief of Staff from June 1999 until June 2003. Prior to that, he held a number of key command positions, including Commander of the U.S. Army, Europe, and Commander of the NATO-led Peace Stabilization Force, Bosnia-Herzegovina. General Shinseki is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, and the recipient of several U.S. and foreign military decorations.
