Regulation

of the

output voltage

of a

power supply

is

important

in

nearly

every application. Happily,

for the

vast majority

of

applications, this

can

be very easily achieved using

a

handful

of

components.

The simple shunt zener voltage regulator shown

in

Figure

3.19 is

only

suitable

for low

current applications (50 mA

or

less).

In

practice

a

circuit

of this type

can be

expected

to

produce

a

regulation figure

of

around

10%,

or better.
