The flipped classroom is designed to motivate students by giving them a large degree of autonomy and responsibility over their learning. In addition, face-time in the classroom is used to convert passive learners to active, engaged learners. From a flipped point of view learning is not a spectator sport; it requires intentional, directed effort on the part of the student to be successful (TLD, 3/10/15).
