While stakeholders are not part of the Scrum Team and are not even an official role in Scrum, they have a tremendous influence on how the Scrum Team works and on whether or how they make progress toward their Product Goal. Effective stakeholders help the Scrum Team deliver value to customers, while ineffective stakeholders act as if the purpose of the Scrum Team is to serve their stakeholders; see Figure 4.1.
