More so than just about any other department, we in visual effects must depend on other departments for nearly all our needs, from office space to support crew to camera equipment. For this reason, it’s essential to establish and maintain cordial and productive relations with other departments. People skills—diplomacy—are very important in this business. Especially important to the VFX Department’s success during production are the DP and his or her crew, and the ADs. We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to establish and maintain good communication with these individuals.
