Although governance is primarily the responsibility of corporate management, its reach extends to all corners of a corporation. Good governance has to permeate the entire infrastructure of a company and its operations, at all levels. Although many companies believe they have good governance, their actions may miss the mark. They may focus solely on training to instill appropriate behavior in their employees. Companies that do this may be able to "check the box" for governance, but they are missing the point.
