Scenarios should have a purpose. They can be general or specific and everything in between. Some scenarios are used simply to encourage creative thinking and wonder about the future, while others are focused on a specific situation or decision. Failure to articulate a purpose at the start is common in scenario planning. However, having an intended purpose connects directly to how the scenarios can be used.
