Appendix A. OnPoint's Global Virtual Team Study
Study Background
A new study conducted by OnPoint surveyed forty-eight virtual teams across industries to identify specific practices associated with the most successful virtual teams. The focus of this study was not to compare face-to-face teams with virtual teams but to understand what factors differentiate high-performing virtual teams so that companies can implement high-impact strategies to make virtual teams more productive.
The population for this study was intact virtual teams, or teams whose members work together interdependently, are geographically dispersed, and who do not regularly meet face-to-face. If a team met the following criteria, they were eligible for the study:
