The creation of Unix and C occurred between 1968 and 1976 and was perhaps the most profound event in the history of our industry. Unix derivatives run everything from server farms to thermostats, and the software within them is almost certainly written in some kind of C derivative.
C and Unix are coupled inventions that took place in some kind of bizarre recursive loop. Unix forced the invention of C, and C forced the reinvention of Unix.
