The Seventies
The ’70s are about to begin, but the ’60s ended with a bang. Nixon is sworn in. Borman, Lovell, and Anders aboard Apollo 8 have just returned after having read from Genesis on Christmas Eve as they orbited the moon. The Beatles’ Abbey Road was soon to be released, and the band was on the verge of breaking up. Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins will launch this year aboard Apollo 11, and a man will walk on the moon for the first time.
The ’70s saw the birth of disco, yuppies, the first resignation of a US president, the Arab oil embargo, and the growing “malaise” within the children of “The Greatest Generation.”
