People have expressed amazement over the fact that between 1967 and 1973 UCLA won seven consecutive national championships. This championship streak began shortly after we moved into modern Pauley Pavilion.

More amazing to me is that earlier UCLA won two national championships, in 1964 and 1965, without a home court and under the hardship conditions I have described in the Men’s Gymnasium building. To this day I believe that was more difficult than winning seven championships in a row after we moved to Pauley Pavilion.
