Preface

During the past 20 years, I have noted with interest the changing models for management

and leadership development as I followed organizational and societal trends. Many of the

recent books about leadership are well written and define the kinds of leaders we need,

but they fail to answer the question “How do I become a leader?”

This book provides trainers with activities they can use to develop their participants’

leadership skills. The concrete, interactive activities involve learners in real-life situations

that effective leaders face as they deal with vision, teams, empowerment, change, and
