274 13 Compressive Data Gathering
When compressive sensing is applied to in-network data compression, it will bring
a wealth of similar benefits as distributed source coding including the simple encod-
ing process, saving of inter-node data exchange, and decoupling of compression from
routing. Furthermore, compressive sensing has two additional advantages. First, it
can deal with abnormal sensor readings gracefully. This advantage will be detailed
in the next section. Second, data reconstruction is not sensitive to packet losses. In
