14.7 Summary
We have described in this chapter a completely novel compressive modulation
scheme for receiver rate adaptation in wireless communication. It achieves fine-
grained adaptation through a rateless multilevel code named RP code and a universal
modulation constellation. The RP encoder generates multilevel symbols from input
binary digits, and each encoded symbol is modulated to one channel dimension. The
sequential mapping from RP symbol values to modulation parameters allows for
Gaussian characterization of symbol errors, which can be readily used in the belief
propagation-based RP decoding.
We carry out extensive simulations and obtain the achievable rates of proposed
CM in the operational range of channel SNR. These ...
