Continue with the previous chapter’s exercise scene file, or open the Soldier_V05.max scene file in the Scenes folder of the Soldier project from the book’s web page at www.sybex.com/go/3dsmax2012essentials.

To create the other half of the model you have so far (Figure 8-1), you are going to use the Mirror tool, which works off your character’s current pivot point. You want to mirror on the X axis, so the gizmo needs to be in the dead center of your to-be-completed character (at the left side of the half model in the Front viewport); you will take care of that in step 1 of the following exercise.
