Atmospheres and Effects
Creating atmospheric effects with lights, such as fog or volume lights, is accomplished through the Atmospheres & Effects rollout in the Modify panel for the selected light.
Using this rollout, you can assign and manage atmospheric effects and other rendering effects that are associated with lights.
Creating a Volumetric Light
Let’s create a fog light now:
1. Open the rocket_atmosphere_start.max scene file in the Lighting Scenes folder on the book’s web page. Go to the Create panel, select Lights, and click the Target Direct light. Move your mouse to the Top viewport, and click and drag from the top of the viewport down toward the rocket.
