つの捉え方があります。監視
とモニタリングは文脈や気分で使い分けられることがありますが、ここでは同じ意
味で利用します。詳細は後述しますが、オブザーバビリティ（
Observability
：可
観測性）は監視・モニタリングをもう一歩推し進めた概念・取り組みです。オブザー
バビリティは監視やモニタリングと対比され対立的に語られることもありますが、
筆者が取り組んでいる実感としては、いい感じかつ持続的にユーザー価値のとくに
保証要素を実現するための取り組みの一環です。
筆者のキャリアがスタートした

年以上前（

世紀の頃）から、定期的・継続
的に、観測し異常を検知し復旧させることを目的とした営みをシステム監視と呼ん
でいました。これを筆者は狭義の監視と呼んでいます。システムや機材の正常状態
を定義し、そこから外れたら異常として通知します。異常状態は障害やインシデン
トとも呼び、通知はアラートとも呼びます。たとえば、
