25.6. Analysis, Coaching, and Benchmarking
Standardization of the Capstone external market scenario has allowed for the development of several automated coaching and benchmarking "drilldown" devices, designed to help students analyze the results of their simulation experience in greater depth.
The Round Analysis (Exhibit 25.12) provides some basic benchmarks for profit margins, working capital, inventory management, and shareholder returns.
When Round Analysis benchmarks are not met, students are guided towards probable root causes, and suggestions are offered for means of conducting a more thorough diagnosis of the problem.
The Round Analysis can also serve as a rudimentary success comparison mechanism, which is especially useful for lower-level students for its simplicity.
The Analyst Report (Exhibit 25.13) is a much more robust version of the Round Analysis, designed for more advanced students.
