variations in the ages of the respondents in the data set explained
only 17.3% of the variation in the tag numbers. As expected, that
is not a very good showing. Because there is really no relationship
between these two variables, even this small value is only due to the
small sample size and sampling error.
4. Significant F is the p- value for testing the overall significance of the
model. In simple regression, this will always yield the same results
as a two- tailed significance test on the correlation coefficient, so it
can be ignored in simple regression. (If the correlation coefficient
is significant, then the overall model is significant. If the correla-
tion coefficient is not significant, then the
