Case Study: REA Group

For our next case study, Alison Rosewarne will walk us through the adoption of continuous deployment at REA Group. Alison is the executive manager of Architecture and Tech L&D at REA.

REA’s Context

REA Group is an ASX-listed digital business specializing in property and one of Australia’s startup success stories. We’re using technology to change the way the world experiences property. Through our digital platforms, we provide access to the largest and most engaged audience of property seekers, deliver superior customer value, and offer comprehensive insights into Australia’s housing market.

At the time of writing, REA Group is an ASX Top 20–listed company with a market capitalization of $23.81 billion. REA employs over 3,000 people across Australia and India. Around 1,000 of our 1,600 Australia-based employees are dedicated to functions supporting delivery of digital products.

I maintain the architecture function at REA as well as learning and development supporting our technology community. Our architecture function helps bring our tech strategy to life through enabling processes (such as our tech decision-making and system health frameworks), contribution to strategic initiatives, and ownership of our overall architecture practice. Our Tech L&D function is part of a broader learning function and offers a combination of social learning support, self-service learning resources, and dedicated training events.
