Part I. Plan

In this first part of the book, we'll examine the processes related to understanding the test work to be done. This is the longest part of the book because this portion of the testing process is where we plant the seeds of success. We'll look first at how to situate a testing effort in the project. Then we'll examine the specific risks that testing can help us address. With that foundation in place, we'll look at two more processes, estimation and planning. After understanding the schedule and the costs, then the strategic and tactical details behind the test effort, we will move on to the next part of the book, ready to prepare for a successful test effort.
