So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This first part provides some background in Chapter 2 on how large corporations develop and how this influences their decision-making in relation to the establishment and subsequent management of subsidiaries. The intent of Chapter 2 is to put readers in the shoes of headquarters managers and to encourage greater reflection on their objectives and concerns. Chapter 3 then focuses on subsidiaries by discussing the ways in which they typically develop their roles within the company over time.
