THE CONCEPT
This image began, as all my work does, with vague ideas and scattered images floating around in my head. The intention was to paint a realistic environment with plenty of atmosphere and detail. A city setting was chosen, specifically a “Chinatown” in a big city. This had plenty of scope for interesting detail, colors and shapes, and allowed for a great rainy, almost “noir” atmosphere.
