So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Session bean design and construction best practices
In our example we introduced a couple of best practices that we want to summarize, and introduced a few additional items for you to consider. These are guidelines, rather than rules, so let your experience guide you in these matters.
Do not store conversational state in stateless session beans— This is pretty much the definition of a stateless session bean, but it bears repeating. A methods execution should not rely on any previous client or conversational state having been set in order to execute.
Use ejbCreate to initialize non-conversational stateless variables— Take advantage of this method to initialize resources that are used throughout the life of the stateless session bean.
