Perspectives are a way to look through different glasses at a project. Depending on the role you have (Web developer, Java developer, EJB developer) and/or the task you have to do (developing, debugging, deploying), you open a different perspective. The Workbench window can have several perspectives opened, and each can have its own window on the desktop if desired (select Window -> Preferences -> Workbench -> Perspectives to set the option for multiple windows).
Figure 9-3 shows the Web perspective. You can switch easily between perspectives by clicking the different icons in the perspective tool bar.
