When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
File Management
An operating system allows you to manage files. For example, Windows saves data in the form of a file. This file could be a photograph, eg, claire.jpg; a document, eg lettertoclaire.doc; a music track, eg demotrack.mp3, and so on.
Notice Windows distinguishes between file types using a 3 or 4 letter extension: doc for documents, jpg for photos, mp3 for music etc. This helps to identify different types of data.
These files are stored in a hierarchical structure. The Operating System stamps each file and folder with some data: date created or modified, date last accessed, user ID of owner or creator of the file, various access permissions, and the file size. Here is a common file/directory structure of a computer system.
