Computer Software
Computer software comes in a variety of different forms: Applications, Apps, Utilities, and System Software.
Applications are pieces of software that are quite large and were originally designed to run on a desktop computer; you interact with the application using a keyboard and mouse. Example applications are: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and so on.
A more recent incarnation of software is the App. Apps are usually smaller in size and are designed with a touch screen in mind. So for example, facebook has an app. Microsoft Office Suite also has App versions of its software to complement their desktop application counterparts.
