I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Data Transfer Rates
Say I had an internet connection of 40mbps (megabits per second) and wanted to download a 70megabyte file.
First you need to make sure both units are the same. Since the file is measured in megabytes, you need to convert the connection speed of 40megabits per second to megabytes per second.
40 megabits per second ÷ 8 = 5 megabytes per second
So how long will it take to download?
To calculate this use
time to download = file size ÷ data rate
So...
Time to download = 70MB ÷ 5MBps (Mega Bytes per second) = 14 seconds
What about a 5 Gigabyte file?
Since we are using Megabytes per second to measure the speed of the connection, we need to convert Gigabytes to Megabytes.
