How it works...

When we specify the form design's main pattern, we are then guided as to the controls we should add and where. This helps us ensure that the forms we design follow a best practice user-interface design, which in turn makes our forms easier to use, quicker to train, and less prone to user error.

We can still opt out of the pattern using the Custom pattern; this allows us to add any control in any order. This should be avoided, and the form design should be redesigned so that it uses standard patterns.
