The data entity extension works in a similar way to any other extension--it stores a delta change in an XML definition file that is merged with the base entity when the project is built. Should we look at the entity within the client, which we do in the next recipe, we will see that the fields exist as if they were part of the entity.
As it was a mapped field, we don't need to write any special code in order to persist this through the staging table to the target table. Since this data entity is not public, it can't be used with the Office add-in or through OData; it is intended to be used within the Data Import/Export Framework.
