It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Just what is business finance?
Business finance, particularly if it is described as corporate finance, sounds complicated. But essentially it is:
- the attraction of money into businesses and projects;
- the monitoring of the ins and outs of money during operations;
- the calculation and reporting of return, or profitability;
- the use of figures to understand the health of a business and to decide what to do next.
These tasks have always described the role of finance, no matter what the current jargon and flavours of the month are. Indeed, one of the ways of dealing with financial matters is to push the problem back into one of these areas and get back to basics.
