I talked with François over coffee and croissants in a hotel just off the Place d’Italie in Paris. It was not long after he had cut the controversial film Intimacy for Patrice Chéreau, whom he had been editing with since La Reine Margot. That collaboration continued until the director’s death. François has established other significant working relationships which he talks about in the update that follows this.
