A decision is ‘a choice that you make about something after thinking about several possibilities’ (1). Decision-making is synonymous with judgement, choice, action and the like. We all make decisions daily about what to wear, what to eat, where to go, what to watch on TV and the like. Over the course of a lifetime, we make thousands (if not more) of decisions that affect us, those around us and others in the periphery whom we may never know.
For leaders, decision-making is a staple that is required to succeed in high-risk environments. As noted in Figure 7, there are a few types of decisions worth noting.
