In this chapter, you’ll learn about the audio capabilities of the DMG. It’s impossible to represent sounds in a book, so it’s particularly important to run the samples in this chapter and experiment on your own.
We’ll start with the basics of the DMG audio system, such as enabling the audio hardware and controlling the sound volume. Then we’ll move on to the four channels of the DMG, each of which has its own audio capabilities. Channels 1 and 2 are suitable for melodies and sound effects. Channel 3 is highly customizable, and channel 4 handles noise.
By the end of the chapter, you’ll be able to output and control sounds in your programs.
