I was surprised and delighted to be asked to write the foreword for Maxim-ilien’s book about the Game Boy. This small game console had a huge impact on my life and career, as it brought me to Japan at the young age of 18 to meet the developers at Nintendo itself. I had a lot of fun developing on it and pushing it to its limits.
My story with the Game Boy really began with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, a cheap programmable home computer that was popular in Europe during the 1980s. The CPU was a Z80, and that’s where the connection arises.
